What a little sweetheart!

Ben was born February 21st at 11:30pm. He weighes 7lbs 10oz and was 21" long. He has huge feet, really long legs, fingers and toes, and the cutest little dimples. The birth went well, although we decided not to stay home for it because of an irregular heartbeat that was picked up in my last prenatal visit. We decided that a hospital birth would be better so he could be checked out thoroughly after he was born.

So, after being a week overdue I decided to drink a bottle of castor oil (totally disgusting) to get things going and it worked. My labour was 5.5 hours long from start to finish, very quick compared to Sophie, but very intense and much harder this time around.

Once Ben was born the pediatricians decided to keep him in the Special Care Unit for a couple of days for observational purposes and so far it looks like everything's just fine with his little ticker. He is super healthy and thriving!

I have become a bit anemic from blood loss during the delivery so I have really low energy and look like a vampire...but James and my mum are looking after me really well and I hope to be feeling like myself in a couple of weeks. So I'll apologize now for any unreturned phone calls - I will get back to everyone eventually!
